Dental Health Week

We had a great visit from Mrs. Hotz.  She shared with us ways to care for our teeth.  We had fun.  During the week we made a tooth brush chart to fill out for 5 weeks. At the end of the 5 weeks bring back the chart and pick a prize from our prize bucket.

We have been reading to our stuffed friends.  This can be done at home too.  Make a bucket of just right or picture books for you child.  Have them grab a favorite stuffed friend and read for 5 or more minutes.  The more they practice the more confident they will get.

This week we will be looking at animals in the winter.  Talking about Hibernation.  One book we will read is called "Hibernation Station."  Check back to see what we learned.

We learned about different animals that hibernate. We also talked about migration and adaptation.  If you are interested in seeing a migrating snow owl, take a family trip to Duxbury.  Some snowy owls have migrated to this area for the winter.
We had "snow" much fun this week. It was too cold to go outside and play in the snow so we brought it inside.  We learned about why snow melts, made a snowman that melted, and painted in the snow.

We will be talking about snowmen next week.  Here is a fun snack to make at home.
We will talk about small, medium and large and symmetry.   If you get a chance build a snowman at home and take a picture.  Have your child tell a story about their snowman or how they built it. Write down their responses.

Wear your favorite Patriots shirt tomorrow for spirit day!

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

This week we are talking about snow and snowflakes.  We know we can make a snowman and snow angels.  When it is cold we can make hot chocolate.  Snowflakes fall from the sky.  Snowflakes are like people because they are all different shapes and sizes.  We love snow.
